Key nugget: “56% of customer tweets to brands etc are being ignored”. IME that can be extended to many forms of online communication. Recently I tried to submit a comment on an article in the online edition of a major Scottish magazine. The link didn’t work (or the editor decided not to publish, which I can readily accept). I emailed the webmaster (using their link) … no response … not even courtesy of an acknowledgement. I then emailed the magazine editor politely inquiring as to whether is a editorial decision or just link fault that led to the non publication … nor response … not even courtesy of an acknowledgement. Especially surprising given that the magazine operates in the realm of Holyrood (Scottish Parliament) and the world of politics and communications. I also had a very similar experience with a major UK retailer. That was with respect to a ‘great sale offer’ they had made online and that they failed to deliver on.

Hi Edward. Too many are not paying attention – if you choose to have an active presence on social media, you have to be prepared to answer customer and prospects.
