Hello! I thought it was about time I posted an update on the goings on at Velocity Digital, so here it is…

A new face

No, I’ve not got a new face! There’s a new face around the office in the form of Fino Hood. Fino joined Velocity in July straight from university and has settled in very well indeed, hitting the road running and working on various delivery projects for clients while learning the Velocity way. His ‘5 Top Posts‘ weekly round-ups of all things tech and marketing have already proven popular and you can expect to see more from Fino soon.

Radio ga-ga

My dulcet tones have been heard on the Kay Adams Programme on BBC Radio Scotland a number of times over the past few months. I’m a regular guest on the ‘Social Whirl’ slot that looks at the news stories creating the biggest buzz on social media. I love doing this week-long slot and am actually on this week, so if you fancy a listen, either tune in at 11:05am or listen online (episodes available for 30 days, skip to 2hrs 5 min in).

I’ve got a number of speaking slots coming up, including Full Stack Marketing at the Turing Festival, The Content Marketing Academy and LITE. Very much looking forward to those!

The Velocity Marketing Podcast

You may not have caught wind of our new podcast? It’s a weekly look at the latest news in digital marketing, peppered with opinion and insight from yours truly. Listen on iTunes, Sound Cloud and Stitcher and if you like it, please do leave a review!

Client news

Dearly loved Velocity client, Mercat Tours, celebrated their 30th birthday in July and we were at the helm of some serious social media activity and content creation. They’re a great team and a real Edinburgh tourism institution. It was great to be a part of this special landmark. I got dressed up as William Burke for the occasion. It was voluntary may I add! I was trying to get into character in this selfie. Poor tourists.

We recently delivered a social media strategy to McIntosh Foods and very much look forward to seeing them rolling it out. They’re one of Scotland’s best loved brands and their in-roads into digital shows a great will to innovative.

There’s a number of other fantastic projects underway, including a paid social media strategy for a well-known Edinburgh-based tech company and I’ll also be heading out to Zurich to deliver consultancy to a huge fintech company. A key part of scheduled work is based around social media advertising which is now an essential part of the digital mix, more on that on this very blog soon.

There you go, a slice of the Velocity Digital world, thanks for reading. Have a great day!
